Job Description:
Will act as the System Tester for Unix (Solaris, Redhat Linux, AIX) customer installations. Testing OS, hardware, Applications and required monitoring/alarming systems
Will work with Unix systems and application engineers responsible for developing and implementing optimized and secure Unix based platforms and services.
Will evaluate and test the associated delivery mechanisms, testing and configuration procedures for new Unix system and application service offerings
Gather necessary requirements, documentation and procedures to create and perform UNIX administration ORT Test Plan.
Will work on special projects as needed Skill Sets required: Qualified candidates will have at least five years of professional work experience in Unix system provisioning, Administration, integration and testing.
Candidate must be able to demonstrate a broad technical knowledge.
It is essential that candidates be able to work both independently and as part of a team, possess strong organizational, written, and verbal skills, think creatively and exhibit strong troubleshooting skills.
The qualified candidate will have the following technical abilities: Comprehensive knowledge of Unix operating system concepts, including file system, kernel, memory, networking, and security concepts.
Emphasis on Solaris, Linux, and AIX in a hosting environment Thorough knowledge of Sun sparc/opteron and IBM/AIX hardware. HP x86 based Linux systems a + Thorough knowledge of RAID and server clustering concepts.
Thorough understanding of the TCP/IP protocol and common implementations, including DNS, SMTP, SNMP, and HTTP.
Basic understanding of routers and networking concepts including familiarity with subnetting/CIDR rules.
Familiarity with writing shell scripts for sys admin tasks
Ability to draft and interpret technical documentation 4-5 years experience in implementing, supporting and testing web based applications and services with emphasis on robust multi-server environments (previous experience in the deployment and management of systems in a multi-server hosting environment).
Successful candidate may possess (Preferred): Prefer a BS degree in computer science or related field.
Demonstrated commitment to testing and/or quality assurance concepts and procedures especially in a Web Hosting multiple server environment.
Experience with Veritas Volume Manager and Veritas Cluster Server, Solstice DiskSuite disk management software.
Experience with HTTP, Weblogic, Websphere, and Oracle implementations.
Experience in managing or implementing systems from remote sites.
Solaris Jumpstart, AIX NIM, Linux Kickstart a plus.
Intermediate to Advanced Windows Server OS install/admin/support desired.
