The Art Institute of Indianapolis - Academic Advisor

 

The Art Institute of Indianapolis, located at the Pyramids, fills a unique niche. We are seeking an experienced professional with a proven track record for the position of Academic Advisor.   This person will be responsible for supporting student life and learning through student advocacy, academic coaching, customer service, campus and community referrals and institutional outreach. The Academic Advisor works closely with all campus departments to support student success and persistence including meeting one on one with students, collaboration with Academic Directors, in depth knowledge of academic programs, and advising students on proper course progression. 

 

Requirements

Successful candidates will possess:

1.      A Bachelor’s degree in Education, Fine Arts, Psychology, Social Work or related field.

2.      One to three years experience working in an academic advising role, preferably in a post secondary institution.

3.      Enthusiasm, passion and initiative.

4.      Excellent organizational and analytical skills.

5.      Superior customer service and problem solving skills.

6.      Proven public speaking and presentation skills.

7.      Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive, effective interdepartmental relationships.

8.      The ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, exercising sound judgment.  Must excel in a fast paced, high pressure environment.

9.      High comfort level working within a computerized environment.
