We are currently seeking a Director of Student Financial Services to join our Romeoville/Joliet, IL campus.
Overview
The Director of Student Financial Services is accountable for the leadership of the Financial Aid and Student Accounts departments. The director is a member of the campus management team and is responsible for the operations and administration of all student financial programs and ensuring that policies and procedures comply with state, federal and Rasmussen’s regulations. The position requires strong managerial leadership background and financial aid leadership in order to administer the overall financial aid process, student services and cash flow of the campus.
Reporting Structure
The Director of Student Financial Services is accountable to the Campus Director with dotted-line reporting to the National Director of Student Financial Services. The financial aid officers, financial aid planners and student accounts managers on a campus report to this position.
Primary Job Responsibilities and Expectations
Manage Financial Aid Team
- Hire, train and supervise financial aid officers and financial aid planners. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work; and resolves employee complaints and problems. Conducts performance evaluations to effectively manage and develop the staff.
· Administer of all of the financial aid programs that the campus participates in including loans, Pell, work-study and grants.
- Determine student eligibility and awarding of financial aid. Monitors student academic progress to ensure students on probation are not awarded financial aid.
- Ensure students are packaged timely in order be able to start classes knowing how they are going to pay for school.
- Reconcile and prepare all requested financial aid tracking and metric reports accurately and on time.
- Process refunds accurately and in a timely manner as required by the Department of Education and the state.
Manage Student Accounts / Accounts Receivable
- Hire, train and supervise student accounts managers. This includes planning, assigning, and directing work; and resolves employee complaints and problems. Conducts performance evaluations to effectively manage and develop the staff.
- Ensure financial aid packaging is resulting in timely drawing of financial aid funds. This includes achieving the objectives set in terms of amount of cash received during the quarter
- Direct SAM to help make the bookstore process simple for students and minimal cost to the College.
- Responsible for the accounts receivable balances on the campus, both in school and out of school collections
Identify additional funding sources
- Work with established lenders to ensure continued access to FFELP and alternative lending.
- Identify additional lending resources, especially for alternative lending.
- Identify community resources available to help students pay for college such as community foundations, scholarship funds, etc.
- Prepare analysis of student funding environment, sources and uses.
Internally Audit department to ensure compliance
- Monitor and respond to changes in the regulatory environment from Congress, to the DOE to the States.
- Internally audit financial aid files to ensure clean audits and regulatory compliance.
- Assist in preparing for audits, both internal and external, to create a smooth process.
