Description
Kiewit’s Eastern District, with Area Offices in New York and Chicago builds heavy civil infrastructure and electrical projects in the Northeast and Great Lakes regions of the United States. We offer excellent opportunities to work on complex projects in the center of worldwide commerce.

Responsibilities Kiewit Construction Company is currently seeking an Assistant Safety Manager for our construction projects throughout the Eastern District. Must be able to meet deadlines and contribute to a positive, safe, high-quality culture. The construction industry is a fast-paced environment that requires decision-making and problem solving skills. Critical components of the job are: extensive involvement in the operation of the cost control system and detailed analysis of construction costs. This position will administer and maintain all regulatory and Company safety and health programs to provide a safe working environment. This is a hands-on position with 90% of time spent in the field. The Safety Manager is responsible for the implementation and oversight of the Project Safety Program including the development of site safety policies and procedures.
¿ Provide necessary training to employees in accordance with OSHA regulations.
¿ Provide feedback to management relative to job site compliance.
¿ Conduct Safety Inspections.
¿ Observe personnel and operations for possible safety concerns.
¿ Assists Area Safety Manager in accident and injury investigations.
¿ Communicates with Project Management regarding compliance and safety.
¿ Monitoring all heavy industrial construction work for compliance with safety requirements
¿ Conducting training, new hire orientation and Safety Meetings.
Requirements
Qualifications
- 5-10 years related experience in a similar position
- Knowledge of construction safety and current Federal and OSHA requirements.
- DEP certified
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint.
- Strong organization/time management skills.
- Strong work ethic; Willing to do what it takes to get the job done.
- The ability to work independently as well as a part of a team. Willing to take directions.
- Ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment with the ability to travel and relocate.
- Good attention to detail, with the ability to recognize discrepancies.
