Cost Accounting Analyst - SAP Required

Fortune 1000 manufacturing company is seeking a strong Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager or Controller to oversee cost accounting, inventory analysis and process improvements through SAP. 

This is a project or project-to-hire role starting as soon as possible.  If you have knowledge of Standard Cost Accounting principles within an SAP manufacturing environment then please consider the following: 

• Prepare cost estimates of new or special product for selling prices and production forecasts
• Responsible for routine compilation of parts manufacturing costs for payroll, inventory accountability, distribution of factory labor, verification of actual costs, and computation of variances
• Calculate burden rates, set up expense budgets for manufacturing
• Check and clear data on labor and materials costs burden and expense items, inventory and profit and loss adjustments
• Devise, install or control systems for determining unit cost of products
•  Distribute costs between the various brands – management and production
• Classify production costs into wages, material and overhead
• Support close processes (monthly, quarterly and annual closes)
• Assist with recommendations on system and reporting improvements
• Analyze requirements for inventory cost reserves for excess inventory and develop journal entries to provide and apply reserves
• Provide cost estimates used in setting selling prices
• Analyze certain SAP auto post accounts to identify entries for receipt of goods and payment of invoices which should be offset and cleared
• Prepare required reporting and partner with key internal customers to ensure accurate reporting and analysis.

Education/Training/Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree required in finance, accounting or a related field
• CPA strongly desired
• Minimum of five years accounting experience required – preferably in a manufacturing work environment
• SAP experience required, preferably with inventory and cost accounting in the FICO module
• Thorough knowledge of general accounting including thorough skills knowledge plus the application of general accounting theory, account reconciliation, cost analysis, closes
