Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Global Procurement Manager will identify new strategic sources of recycled plastics in new international regions, focusing on Central and South America and expanding to Europe and Asia.  This individual will have global purchasing responsibility and will be charged with the development and implementation of multi-location sourcing strategy in accordance with corporate objectives to reduce product and transaction costs while maintaining or improving the quality/service capabilities of the Company’s supplier base. 
 

 
SCOPE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain systems to provide opportunity for the most cost effective purchase of materials and containers within given quality, time constraints and security restrictions on a global basis;
  • Assume responsibility for purchasing all materials and procuring optimal product price in the existing marketplace and the assurance in timeliness of deliveries; 
  • Work in conjunction with processing plant to develop a global procurement plan;
  • Verify prices, freight terms and delivery schedules and coordinate delivery and receipt of purchased products;
  • Serve as representative for Company’s contract negotiations with material suppliers;
  • Keep management informed on trends in supply, market conditions, market price, shortages and opportunities;
  • Develop and implement annual procurement plan and three year strategic procurement strategy;
  • Negotiate contracts with all supply partners that include year-over-year productivity improvements;
  • Develop, enforce and monitor supplier performance metrics that drive business results;
  • Maintain and promote compliance with all corporate requirements;
  • Effective communication of and implementation of purchasing policies, controls,  procedures and initiatives;

  •  Interview and develop new vendors by obtaining product information such as company profile, pricing, terms, material availability, and delivery;

  • Review and submit bid proposals, negotiate contracts within scope of authority and prepare purchase orders;

  • Coordinate activities involved in procuring overseas materials including local transportation, import duties and overseas freight;

  • Provide global commodity outlook, prepare and maintain global commodity price indexes;

  • Analyze domestic and international markets for commodity supply and demand;

  • Plan, forecast and coordinate material purchases;

  • Sample and evaluate new material opportunities;

  • Interface and coordinate activities with the warehouse and transportation department for timely delivery of product along with accounting for invoice resolution;

  • Participate in industry associations, stay abreast of industry news and events.

     

Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Five years experience in the procurement function, in roles of increasing responsibility, within the plastics packaging industry;
  • Fluent in Spanish language;
  • Proven track record in achieving annual performance targets;
  • Strong change agent, business acumen and problem solver;
  • Aggressive and open minded, with excellent presentation and communication skills;
  • Strong MS Office Suite skills; 
  • Exceptional customer relationship management skills including strong written and verbal communication ability;
  • Ability to establish and maintain a high profile in the industry and network with organizations and customers;
  • International travel is required.

 


EDUCATION:
 

A Bachelor’s degree is required.   A Master of Business Administration or related advanced degree is highly desirable.
