Manager-Mistake Proofing Technologies


Primary Purpose:

To develop TSL's sensor application program to enable us to be in the top 5% of our industry.

Principle Duties and/or Responsibilities of Manager-Mistake Proofing Technologies:

  • Maintain a running inventory of all tooling in need of sensor technology, issues reports to management on the progress of sensor implementations on a weekly basis and is in touch with other plants within the Company as to their sensor needs.
  • Maintains the sensor laboratory and an inventory of sensor uses company-wide Researches and tests numerous types of sensors, meets with many sensor companies' representatives, maintain a catalog library, studies sensor and automation catalogs and books and research on the WEB.
  • Documents results of sensor applications simulations and develops basic drawings of sensor installations for the tool room. Available to put in long hours as needed to accomplish sensor related tasks.
  • Willing to master the die-protection systems on the presses and willing to transfer these skills to the shop- floor personnel via training sessions.
  • Willing to attend trade shows and seminars related to sensor technologies. Able to train both shop-floor and office personnel on pertinent sensor topics.
  • Take ownership of the sensor program and champions its success in the Company. Work with press room, tool room, design, quality and management personnel on mistake-proofing applications throughout the Company.
  • Participate in 8D Problem Solving meetings and corrective actions.
  • Attends meeting with and conducts tours for plant visitors to showcase mistake-proofing technologies that have been implemented throughout the Company.
  • Willing to work with die designers on sensor applications at the design stage of tooling.
  • Able to work within a team environment as the sensor and automation department expands in the future into a multi-person team.
  • Able to occasionally work during the evening shifts to conduct sensor related training sessions for night-shift workers.
  • Assist in maintenance area as needed.
  • Act as liaison for Pulaski and Ohio facilities.
  • Assure QS 9000 requirements are being met.

  • Safety Ensure all employees follow the safety policy Keep the work area clean.

Job Requirements of Manager-Mistake Proofing Technologies:
 
Education Requirements 


  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Certified Toolmaker or 6 yrs experience in Tool and Die field
  • Some Electronics Training preferred (not required)

Experience Requirements 

  • Tool and Die maker 6 yrs. Minimum
  • PLC experience preferred (not required)
  • Facility  Automotive background preferred Training Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing experience
  • Minimum 3 years stamping experience or related field (Automotive preferred)
  • Minimum 3 year Microcomputer (PC) experience

 

Training Requirements

  • Mistake Proofing Philosophy by George Keremedjiev   
  • Basic AllenBradley PLC training     
  • TS-16949      
  • Lean Manufacturing / JIT     
  •  Six Sigma  
    
Skill Requirements    
 
  • Will have the ability to work a schedule that allows completion of the job on a daily basis.
  • Certified Tool and Die Maker, Machinist, Millwright or a similar college diploma as an Industrial
  • Electrician, Mechanical Technician,  CNC Programmer, EDM Programmer or Millwright, or relevant experience.     
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and able to make and meet specific goals for the sensor program.
  • Possess much patience to conduct test-bench simulations of sensor applications.
  • Willing to learn or possess computer skills including, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and CAD
  •  Willing to learn or possess Electronics, as needed.   
  • Willing to learn or possess sensor technology and its application to tooling and assembly.
