Description
A full-time position Financial Aid Department in the Interprets and implements State and Federal regulations, Financial Aid/Business Office policy and procedures and DCCCD Board policy as they apply to student financial aid. Duties include but are not limited:
Monitors compliance. Responsible for submitting periodic reports to State and Federal agencies.
Coordinates college records for financial aid audits, student documentation and preparation of subsidiary accounting ledgers.
Responsible for providing information to lenders under the student loan program.
Assists students in application process and provides certification related to student to lenders.
May perform research to provide current addresses of students in default condition.
Assists students in making application for financial aid programs.
Conducts workshops for local high schools, other programs and individuals in subject areas related to financial aid.
Counsels students regarding responsibility in maintaining academic progress, probation, suspension, loan and grant repayment, etc.
Analyzes individual student financial needs using prescribed methodology.
Prepares appropriate forms to disburse aid and document transactions.
Develops and administers budget within allocation.
Selects, trains, supervises and evaluates financial aid office personnel.
Instructs staff on procedural changes and monitors compliance.
May be responsible for administering the Veterans Education Program, including counseling, interpretation, implementation and monitoring of Veterans Educational benefit programs for eligible veterans.
May be responsible for student placement functions.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Master's degree or higher in student services or related field plus two years experience in student financial aid, including supervision
or
Bachelor's degree or higher in student services or related field plus four years experience in student financial aid, including supervision or Associate degree or higher plus seven years of progressively responsible experience in student financial aid, including supervision.
Knowledge of computerized accounting applications and financial aid reporting requirements.
Ability to utilize computer technology to access data, maintain records, generate reports and communicate.
Proven oral and written communication skills to interact with a broad variety of individuals from diverse backgrounds including, but not limited to DCCCD staff, students, prospective students, external funding agencies, auditors, etc.
Official transcript will be required.
A criminal background check will be conducted.
