Satellite Communication Systems Operator-Maintainer
With communication being such an integral and critical part of the Army National Guard, the Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainers are responsible for making sure that the lines of communication are always up and running. They install, operate, maintain and repair strategic and tactical multichannel satellite communications.
Here are some of the duties of a Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer:
- Transmit, receive and log messages according to military procedures
- Encode and decode classified messages
- Operate different types of telephone switchboards
- Install, maintain and operate communications equipment

Training
Job training for a Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer consists of 39 weeks of training. Part of this time is spent in a classroom and part in the field under simulated combat conditions. Some of the skills you'll learn are:

Responsibilities
Advanced level Satellite Communication Systems Operator/Maintainer provide guidance on technical issues to other Soldiers. They also identify and report electronic jamming and deception and apply appropriate electronic countermeasures.
