Center Therapy Director (Physical Therapist) opportunity in an Outpatient Orthopedics setting.

 

Our philosophy is focused towards a dynamic early intervention (seeing patients typically within 1 to 3 days of their injury) functional approach to musculoskeletal medicine. Our focus is on education, manual therapy and exercise based programs. We identify highly motivated therapists who understand customer service towards patients and the employers we serve. Concentra takes pride in the development of master clinicians through focused continuing education programs.

The Center Therapy Director must ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service by self and the center colleagues by putting all customers (internal and external) first and displaying:

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Patient Care

  • Communicates with and educates all therapy patients regarding treatment, setting expectations for return-to-work and emphasizing education and motivation.
  • Directs the practice of therapy and applicable patient therapy care of the center.
  • Communicates with all medical providers regarding patient findings, diagnosis and plan of care.
    • Communicates with employers, payors and referral sources concerning specific rehabilitation issues of injured employees.
    • Conducts evaluations on physician referrals and using an evidence based model develops appropriate treatment plans.
    • Ensures other treating medical professionals have necessary information to evaluate patient’s function.
      • Develops knowledge of best demonstrated practices and specific quality indicators to measure and improve them.
      • Coordinates with the leadership team to keep missed appointment rates within acceptable ranges.
      • Communicates with Specialist Physicians concerning specific rehabilitation issues.

  

Management/Supervisory

  • Responsible for decisions and input relating to hiring, transfers, disciplinary actions, grievance discussions, coaching development and recommendation of actions, demotions, and termination decisions as applicable for specific discipline and center staff.
  • Consults with, and provides feedback to, the Center Leadership Team regarding the eligibility of the candidate(s) for hiring.
  • Provides feedback to the Area Therapy Director and/or Regional Therapy Director regarding eligibility of the candidate(s) for hiring.
  • Conducts and supervises orientation and training for center therapy colleagues/staff members covering Concentra philosophy, protocols and process management, as applicable.
  • Coordinates the center’s therapy staff schedules to ensure efficient productivity while meeting client needs.
  • Conducts performance management process of therapy colleagues/staff members with input from Center Leadership Team. 
  • Coaches therapy colleagues on service, performance and other job related issues, as necessary.
  • Addresses therapy colleague disciplinary concerns and conducts the disciplinary action discussions, as applicable, (after consultation with management and HR).
  • Monitors therapy colleague performance and determines if issue(s) have been corrected and/or if further development/disciplinary action is necessary.
  • Supervises maintaining appropriate equipment and daily supplies.
  • Promotes and ensures colleague development and a positive and effective team environment.
  • Interacts and consults with each member of the Center Leadership Team (CLT) regarding the center activities such as:
    • Center strategy and growth;
    • Participation in the periodic CLT and center staff meetings;
    • Determine best recruiting requirements necessary to meet job/position requirements and center objectives
    • Consult as a team on the hiring decisions of the best candidates who:
      • Possess the required qualifications/skills and behavioral competencies;
      • Will meet company/center service standards and position expectations; and
      • Displays the manner/attitude, philosophy and characteristics to support the Company’s core values.
  • Consult as a team on center staff performance management including performance evaluation, disciplinary actions and termination decisions, as applicable and appropriate. Colleague performance management to include:
    • Provide regular coaching & feedback to improve colleague performance
    • Empower center colleagues to assess center processes and work flows to continuously improve the patient experience
    • Assign/delegate duties with follow up to ensure completion
    • Work schedule management
  • Other center leadership team responsibilities that may arise as needed.

 Center Leadership Team Responsibility

 

 Center Operations/Customer Relationship Management

  • Ensures operations are consistent with medical policy and professional standards and Concentra’s standard of care.
  • Market our therapy services to employers, payors and referral sources.
  • Markets local (non-Concentra) physicians and their practices to develop private health referral base.
  • Meets with employers to discuss Concentra’s early intervention philosophy.
  • Participates with leadership team to bring new business to the center.
  • Evaluates capital equipment and staff needed to fulfill rehabilitation responsibilities.
  • Provides statistical analysis of the center’s therapy performance.
  • Establishes and promotes clear lines of communication between therapy and other center staff members.
  • Tracks and documents pre-authorization requirements according to state standards in the patients chart.
  • Participates with leadership team overseeing daily operation and direction of the center.
  • Participates in establishing policies and procedures for the center.
  • Actively participates with the Center Leadership Team in establishing budgetary goals.

 

Other Responsibilities

  • Communicates with the Center Support Team Injury Coordinator or the Case Manager for each patient.
  • Participates in clinical instruction of university therapist and/or therapist assistant students.
  • Evaluates the effectiveness of the rehabilitation quality management process and implements new and improved processes.
  • Ensures compliance with the rules and regulations established by the relevant licensing, certification and accrediting bodies.
  • Develops a working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the State Workers’ Compensation law.
  • Develops or improves occupational medicine services and overall teamwork.
  • Meets with the Regional Therapy Director or the designee on a regular basis to discuss quality of patient care, procedures, records, review of new policies and other issues as indicated.
  • Participates regularly in professional continuing education.
