Description
The Director of Marketing reports to the President and is responsible for all activities related to conceptualizing and implementing market strategy and achieving marketing targets. Specific responsibilities include business and market development; market research and planning; strategic direction for promotion and advertising; coordination with sales; and directing the day-to-day activities of marketing staff.
As a member of the organization's management team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: leadership, communication, mentoring, empowerment, and resource management.
Key Responsibilities
· Provides leadership in development of marketing strategy and execution of marketing plans
· Develops the annual marketing plan and the strategies, tactics and resources necessary to achieve system and goals.
· Responsible for development and management of departmental budget
· Accountable for the results of the marketing department strategies
· Develops appropriate forecasts in conjunction with sales and operations and revised to reflect market realities.
· Provides leadership in the selection of products and service lines.
· Oversees and provides direction in obtaining and utilizing market and competitor analysis.
· Leadership, direction and management in all aspects of the market research function.
· Prepares presentations at all levels to explain the Company’s current and future strategies.
· Collaborates with other members of management to ensure alignment and leverage of knowledge and practices
Requirements
· Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
· 7 + years of consumer products industry experience including demonstrated success in planning, marketing, brand building, market development, market research, and promotions/advertising
· Proven team based managerial experience
· Demonstrated track record of past success
· Ability to collaborate and work in a team based environment both as a leader and team member.
· Strong interpersonal skills, maturity, and good judgment. Ability to work with vendors and sales division
· Proven work history of being able to quickly adapt to rapidly changing marketplace while working with a limited staff (hands-on capability with strategic perspective).
· Should have work experience in both small and large business settings.
