Description :    Under the direction of the Physical Therapist, the PT Assistant provides selected physical therapy services to patients, supervises patients, remains alert to patient condition, and writes progress and discharge notes.  The PTA confers with members of the Physical Therapy staff and other health team members (including Senior Physical Therapy Aides) individually and in conference to exchange, discuss, and evaluate patient information for planning, modifying, and coordinating treatment programs; meets productivity standards and performs other duties inherent in the job; and is knowledgeable about the developmental needs over the age span and is knowledgeable about age specific equipment. The PTA will routinely spend approximately 80% of his/her time treating single service and multi-disciplinary outpatients.  The ICOR serves a primarily adult population with the exception of pediatric orthopedics; specific treatment is based on Therapist’s competencies.
Requirements

·        Graduate from an educational program for the Physical Therapy Assistant which is accredited by an accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Commissioner of Education and/or the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation.

·        Must possess a currently valid certificate of registration from the State of Illinois or eligibility for the same, together with eligibility for membership in the APTA.

·        Current BLS certification required.

·        Two years experience recommended. 

·        Must be alert and sensitive to patient conditions and reactions, and have ability to establish a therapeutically effective relationship with patients.
