Benefits Assistant- Columbia, MD

 

Job Responsibilities:

We are currently searching for a Benefit Assistant.  The ideal candidate will be looking for an opportunity to continue to grow in the field of Human Resources.  This position will join an established team of HR professionals in a fast-paced work environment.

 

This position supports the Director of Human Resources with a variety of day-to-day  Benefit and HR administration functions.

 

Responsibilities:

- Supports benefits in ongoing benefit plan administration, including health and welfare plans, COBRA administration, Flexible Spending, disability, 401(k), OSHA

- Assist with open enrollment periods and initiatives based on changes in compliance regulations

- Process/updates enrollment/termination of employee benefits through various benefits systems

- Process various personnel actions in HRIS/Benefit systems

- Assist with regularly scheduled audits of all plan benefit plans and enrollment records/files

- Reconcile monthly enrollment files

- Conducts benefits orientations and maintains employee benefit material

- Maintains personnel files and other Human Resources records; Ensures files are maintained in accordance with legal requirements and Company policies and procedures

- Assist employees with HR and benefits related forms and procedures

- Track, report and summarize data to be used in HR analysis/projects; Prepare ad-hoc reports

- Assist with preparation of benefit surveys and communications

- May support compensation, performance management activities

- Performs other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

Skills Required to be considered:         

Competencies:

- High proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint

- Previous experience with HRIS/Benefit systems required. Experience with Deltek Cost point and ADP desired.

- Knowledge of summary plan documents

- Ability to interpret benefit plan documents for plan members


Interpersonal Skills:

- Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail

- Great interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)

- Ability to keep sensitive employee information confidential

- Ability to juggle multiple priorities

- High level of initiative and ability to work as an effective team member



Minimum Education Required: High School
