Nurse Manager, Perioperative Services

Community General Hospital is seeking a highly experienced, team-oriented nursing leader with solid leadership, motivational and clinical skills to assume the role of Perioperative Nurse Manager. This position reports directly to Nancy Thompson, the Director of Surgical Services. The nurse manager will have oversight of 48 FTE’s. The case load is 57% Orthopedics with the remainder focused mostly in Robotics, GYN, GU, General Surgery, and Plastics.

The successful incumbent will develop a unit vision, implement relevant outcome measurement programs, and seek to improve patient, staff and physician satisfaction. SEIU 1199 represents the Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, Technicians, Service & Maintenance Workers, and the Business Office Clerical staff.

Requirements for this position include: Eligibility for licensure as a professional nurse in the State of New York; a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is required and a Masters Degree in Nursing or Healthcare Administration is preferred; three (3) to five (5) years of recent progressive leadership experience in a similar sized organization; able to lead and manage change; demonstrated success in developing an effective nursing leadership team with a shared vision; ability to achieve goals and objectives; and demonstrated mentoring/nursing leadership capabilities.  Must empower others and have strong motivational skills.
