The Sarah Cannon Research Institute (SCRI) is the largest community based cancer research program in the country. And, we currently have an opening for a Financial Assistant.
JOB TITLE – Financial Reporting Accountant
GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES – Responsible for the oversight and supervision of the consolidated financial reporting process. Must be able to perform a variety of complicated tasks with little or no supervision.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
· Prepare financial reporting for the company – reporting of financial results (Income Statements, Balance Sheets, Cash Flows)
· Prepare ad hoc reporting as necessary
· Develop process improvements to continually enhance the reporting procedures
· Create financial models and reports utilizing a variety of software
· Assist with special projects in the Accounting department
· Assist in the development and documentation of accounting policy and procedures
· Ensure that all processing and reporting deadlines are consistently achieved
· Respond to requests for information from the Controller and other internal management
· Assist operations, as needed with financial information requests and questions
· Distribute monthly reports to appropriate operations personnel.
· Prepare monthly journal entries, analyses and account reconciliations as required to accurately close the monthly fiscal period.
· Participate in development and detailed review of annual operating budgets and performance projections
· Maintain strictest confidentiality to ensure that privileged and/or proprietary information is adequately safeguarded against disclosure
· Practice and adhere to the “Code of Conduct" philosophy and “Mission and Value Statement"
Requirements
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· Advanced use of MS Office products preferred
· Knowledge of accounting theory, principles and practices sufficient to identify and describe accounting systems and sub-systems
· Knowledge of the financial accounting process
· Knowledge of research techniques to analyze and evaluate financial data and information
· Knowledge of accounting information systems
· Knowledge of, and ability to apply GAAP and SEC requirements
· Ability to demonstrate effective organizational skills
· Ability to analyze financial reports
· Ability to prepare statistical and narrative accounting reports
· Ability to perform mathematical computations accurately
· Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
· Ability to work well with others
· Ability to organize work independently and consistently achieve reporting deadlines
· Ability to design and modify system queries preferred
· Ability to interact with other individuals at all levels of management
EDUCATION
· Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required
· Master’s degree in Accounting or MBA preferred
· CPA or progress towards CPA highly preferred
EXPERIENCE
· 5+ years of financial reporting experience, specifically in a report preparation
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE
· CPA or progress towards CPA highly preferred
