Position Description:
Instructional Designers (IDs) will create interactive and engaging online courses, using their professional expertise to develop courses that address student/learner needs in the following areas:
• Relevant and appropriate course presentations and assignments from which students/learners can demonstrate mastery of the subject matter
• Content relevant to the student/learner population
• Clear directions and guidelines for course requirements
• Methods for assessing student mastery of outcomes
• Reasonable accommodations and tutoring when appropriate
• Instructor guides which include course outline, learning event description, grading criteria, and assessment rubrics
In addition, Instructional Designers are expected to assist on special projects as needed.
Responsibilities:
· IDs provide academic content and instructional design that includes appropriate instructional organization and development of learning activities for online courses based on curriculum determined by the residential college, selection of course materials and supplementary materials for online courses, and determining appropriate course evaluation methods for student progress and final grade assessment in online courses.
· IDs act in a subject matter expert role for course development and learning assessment according to their respective academic qualifications.
· IDs understand and utilize the approved academic philosophy and learning model of online course delivery and adhere to methods of authentic assessment that best measure the student's performance in the specified master course outcomes. Other methods of course assessment not measuring course outcomes mastery or demonstrated performance will not be used by IDs in the construction of online courses.
· IDs understand and adhere to a student-centered philosophy of learning where the student learning experience is the focal point of the online educational delivery. All course evaluation methods, learning activities, and instructional design are based on a student-centered, constructivist philosophy so learning is enhanced for the learner.
Requirements
BS Instructional Design a huge Plus****
• Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred (preferably in education, instructional design, instructional technology, business, or IT).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in instructional design including writing, developing educational materials, performing instructional design, interacting with subject matter experts
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, self-starter, flexible, and detail-oriented
• 24/7, results-oriented attitude
