Description

IT Systems Administrator

 

The IT Systems Administrator will provide central point of contact and provide desktop support for Creative Communications.  Also analyze, develop, and maintain business systems and applications.  Provide value-added support, both internally and externally, as it relates to deploying and maintaining information technology solutions that streamline and enhance business processes.


Duties include but not limited to:

 

  • Maintains computing environment by identifying system requirements; installing upgrades; monitoring system performance; systems configuration and network operational support  

  • Plan, coordinate, and administer computer systems, and optimize system performance; advancements in technology to initiate corrective or preventative action to ensure optimum performance of the system  

  • Primary contact for troubleshooting software applications such as Microsoft Windows XP Professional, Office 2007 Professional, Spyware and virus Intrusion, Internet Explorer, Microsoft Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and all other company standard desktop software.  

  • Establishes system specifications by conferring with users; analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements; designing system infrastructure.

  • Establishes system by planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of PC and server hardware, software, LAN and WAN networks, and operating and system management systems; defining system and operational policies and procedures.

  • Maintains system performance by performing system monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting system hardware, software, networks and operating and system management systems; designing and running system load/stress testing; escalating application problems to vendor.

  • Secures system by developing system access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; establishing and testing disaster recovery policies and procedures; completing back-ups; maintaining documentation.

  • Upgrades system by conferring with vendors and services; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements and new software.Provide IT on-site support.  Including Service Desk, Deskside, and IT Operational support.

  • Utilize performance tuning tools, database management, and project management methods sufficient to optimize systems performance, operating systems, associated devices, and the interoperability of systems sufficient to install, upgrade, troubleshoot, test, and maintain those systems

  • Optimize the functionality and performance of systems; and to ensure the availability, integrity, efficiency, and reliability of servers; document configurations, processes, and procedures for Information Technology functions

  • Prepares users by designing and conducting training programs; providing references and support.

  • Install and configure new and upgraded desktop and laptop computers for both local and remote users.

  • Provide and maintain documentation of procedures as requested by department supervisor or manager.  

  • Maintain site specific technology and communications parts equipment inventory (as needed).

  • Analyze requirements for PC hardware and software problems

  • Troubleshoot problems on all PC’s, peripherals, and printers

  • Configure routers and switches and troubleshoot related problems

  • Manage and control network server resources.

  • Maintain server backup files and ensure their security.

  • Follow computer equipment maintenance plan.

  • Install, configure and control hardware and software authorized by the company.

  • Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.

  • Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.

  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

 

Skills/Qualifications:

 

  • Must have 8 – 10 years of hands on IT experience with System Administration:  Installing, Configuring, and Troubleshooting supporting Servers, PC’s, Networks and Systems, Developing Standards, LAN/WAN Knowledge, Proxy Servers.
  • Experience with Training , Multi-tasking, On-Call, Networking Knowledge, Network Hardware Configuration, Network Maintenance and Network Performance Tuning
  • Must have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems, and Microsoft Office Applications, general knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) as well as Telephony systems.  
  • Must have the ability to install and configure standard desktop hardware and software, PC operating systems (MS Windows, Linux) and Microsoft Exchange Server, Blackberry Enterprise Server
  • Microsoft or other IT certifications will be given greater consideration
  • A college degree is preferred.  
  • Any equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.  
  • Must possess exceptional organizational skills as well as excellent communication skills and have the ability to multi-task and prioritize multiple requests and projects.
