Description

General Summary: Directs and manages credit and collection activities for the company. Develops, recommends and implements related policies and procedures with the objective of maximizing sales, minimizing bad debt and fostering good customer relations.
Positions reporting to this position: Two direct reports: Corporate Credit Managers
Duties and Responsibilities : (functions considered essential are marked by an *)
- Develops policies and procedures used in investigating, granting and controlling credit and in collecting accounts due for company and new acquisitions.
- Trains staff in appropriate financial analysis techniques to ensure proper evaluation of risk/exposure including sales representatives in credit and collection policies and practices and Accounts Receivable in investment management
- Evaluates and recommends amount of working capital necessary to finance accounts receivable and to provide reserves against bad debt

Directs credit and collections customer relationships including visiting existing and potential customers to investigate credit and collection matters and to foster good credit relationships between customer and company

Monitors and oversees customer credit limits and new credit applications, ensuring appropriate credit extensions and payment terms are negotiated as needed

Develops and implements any approved related operational improvements
- Interacts with and communicates credit and collection matters with other departments, divisions and subsidiaries
- Conducts trend analysis for planning and reporting purposes
- Hires, trains, supervises and regularly evaluates performance of the credit and collections staff. Ensures proper orientation of staff into the organization
- Oversees development of reports on the status of credit and collections and other operating statements for management
Requirements
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business with emphasis in Accounting highly desired.
Required Certification/Licensure:
NACM Member Preferred
Experience Requirements:
Ten years related credit/collections experience with five years supervisory/management experience.
Special Skills Required:
Must possess strong communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to effectively communicate with Senior Management; decision-making, negotiation, analytical, problem solving and organizational skills; strong interpersonal skills with a customer focus including individuals at all levels of the organization; proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, electronic mail and database applications; advanced; knowledge of bookkeeping practices and procedures, Fair Debt and Collection laws and Mechanics lien and bond laws; advanced ability to identify discrepancies and determine alternative courses of action. The ability to multitask, meet strict deadlines and work under pressure are critical to success in this role.
