Description of Work:
We now have an opportunity available within our reference laboratory in our Lenexa, Kansas facility for a Clinical Laboratory Scientist III for the evening shift performing allergy and immunology testing on various specimens through automated and manual techniques. In this role, the successful candidates will analyze and report patient specimen results and be responsible for assignments including quality control, troubleshooting and calibration of instruments. Emphasis will be on assuring quality results through the use and evaluation of control materials and proper instrument operation and maintenance. The hours of work are from 3:00 pm to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The person hired for this position will report to the Clinical Lab Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Perform laboratory tests exercising independent judgment and responsibility
- Perform quality control to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and
procedures; making judgments concerning results and taking appropriate action
to maintain accuracy
- Evaluate and solve problems related to processing of specimens for analysis
- Adhere to internal controls established for the department
- Ensure that all tests are performed in accordance with established standard operating
procedures
- Calibrate, standardize, and maintain test equipment and instruments, following
established procedures
- Maintain inventory of reagents and other supplies
- Prepare reagents
- Demonstrate effective teamwork skills by sharing information and knowledge
- Orient, mentor, and teach clinical laboratory methods, procedures, and techniques to
new staff and students
- Actively participate in process improvement initiatives
- Adhere to the company’s safety policies in the performance of all duties
- Accept, complete and report on special assignments within the agreed upon timeframe
Requirements
Requirements/Qualifications:
To qualify, a candidate must possess a BA/BS in Biological Sciences or a BS in Medical Technology and have 6 years experience in a clinical laboratory setting. Or, the candidate must possess a MA/MS in Biological Science and have 4 years experience in a clinical lab setting. The ability to train others and work both independently and cooperatively as a team member are essential. Strong communication and organization/prioritization skills are also required of the successful candidates.
