Description
The Building Automation and Energy Manager is responsible for the overall building automation management /energy conservation programs at the Indianapolis Zoo. Prior experience in management level position is essential.
Primary responsibilities include:
· Managing the complete operation of the Honeywell EBI system.
· Maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and expanding the control systems utilizing pneumatic, electric and electronic controls using test and measure instruments.
· Works in conjunction with others on maintaining and optimizing the HVAC systems throughout the Zoo.
· Performs utility cost analysis, and implements energy conservation programs.
· Works closely with Life Support Supervisor and Water Quality Specialist on water quality monitoring and management with emphasis on water processing techniques and environmental control related to aquatic live animal exhibits.
· Uses, repairs, and calibrates electronic, pneumatic and electric controls, specialty diagnostic tools, PC networks, and proprietary building automation systems.
· Must become an advanced and competent user of Honeywell station, HMI web Display Builder, CARE, Outlook, and Word. Must be an intermediate user of excel, Power Point, and Project.
This position requires 24/7availability to respond to emergencies, and may be required to work overtime, various shifts, week-ends, and holidays as needed.
Physical demands include occasionally lifting up to 100 pounds of force, frequently lifting in excess of 50 pounds of force; climbs ladders and scaffolding, stopping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, standing, walking, pushing, and pulling. Works indoors and outdoors in all kinds of weather, with temperature ranges from -20 to 90+ Fahrenheit.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree in technology, electrical/mechanical field is required. Bachelor Degree in related field strongly preferred.
Certified Energy Manager (CEM) strongly preferred.
Minimum of 5 years professional work experience in building automation systems and controls (preferably Honeywell), and 2 years in programming, installation, and repair.
Water treatment knowledge preferred.
A strong background in troubleshooting electronic controls is required.
Must have a valid Indiana driver’s license and driving record deemed insurable by the Zoo’s insurance carrier.
