Architectural Model Builder
Rowan Williams Davies & Irwin Inc. (RWDI) is an engineering consulting firm specializing in the science of buildings and structures.
We lead integrated design incorporating sustainability, environmental engineering, wind engineering, microclimate, ventilation, noise, acoustics and vibration.
We are a firm of 250+ enthusiastic people in five countries.
We are responsible for providing the wind engineering services for many landmark projects worldwide, including: the Petronas Towers, Taipei 101, Burj Dubai and the new Tacoma Narrows Bridge to name a few.
Currently, we are working on many exciting projects including the new Miami Marlins Ballpark.
RWDI is currently accepting applications for Architectural Model Builders to work in our facility in Miramar, Florida.
The role includes but is not limited to:
· Builds physical scale models and prototypes
· Detailed working knowledge and ability to operate and maintain a variety of shop
equipment, and power/hand tools
· Some working knowledge of digital camera and personal computer
· Advises on and deciphers information from 2D and 3D drawing files, sketches, photos,
and maps to conceive and construct models and 3D graphics
· Participates in the planning and coordination of many landmark projects worldwide
· Collaborates with the engineering team to problem solve modeling issues
· Ensures the project requirements are being fulfilled through ongoing communication
with the project team
· Communicates technical information and project specifics to client or external contractor
· Ensures that proper quality assurance documentation is completed
Requirements
We are accepting applications from candidates with the following skills and qualifications:
· A high school diploma and/or college diploma. We welcome applicants with an
architectural or engineering technology, carpentry and or cabinet making, woodworking,
millwork or related discipline
An aptitude for 3D conceptualization and the ability to transfer 2D plans into 3D physical
models
· Proficiency in AutoCAD
· Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
· Demonstrated initiative, independent problem solving methods/capabilities
· Proven ability to successfully meet deadlines and manage a number of projects at once

· Excellent verbal communication skills
· Strong people and team skills as well as highly motivated
· Proven organizational capability, decision making and coordination skills

supervision
