Deployment Engineer - .Net, Java, IIS, SQL Server, Windows Scripting, Citrix, Packaging
Location: Chicago, IL
TOP TIER DIRECT FORTUNE 100 BANKING / FINANCIAL CLIENT is looking for a Deployment Engineer in Chicago, IL.
Windows PowerShell Experience is a plus. Strong Windows scripting experience is required.
2nd shift is preferred (hours would be 2pm-10pm), but open to 1st shift candidates also. Candidates would need to be flexiable with hours.
The technology environment is a multi-tiered web-based and client/server environment using .NET, C#, Java, IIS and SQL Server. Our applications run on both user desktops and within Citrix server farms. Our technology environments consist of: Development, Quality Assurance (QA), User Acceptance Testing (UAT), Training, Performance, and Production. Our application is a solution comprised of multiple vendor products and also internally developed code.
As a Deployment Engineer, you will be responsible for managing and executing the day-to-day application deployment activities that occur in all of our environments.
You will work closely with developers, vendors, QA, production support and operations in order to resolve any software and hardware related issues that may arise.
You will be responsible for designing, developing and documenting implementation procedures, reusable deployment scripts, environment comparison tools, automated application smoke test utilities, and application monitoring tools that will ensure we have repeatable deployment processes, and robust and uniform environments.
At times, you may also be required to work 2nd shift and off-hours, including weekends, in order to accommodate QA and UAT testing schedules. You will also be required to perform production deployments during non-business hours.
Responsibilities:

Deploy our internally developed .NET/Java components and vendor software across all of our Windows and Citrix server environments.

Define reusable and fail-proof implementation procedures.

Create automated package installers and deployment scripts.

Develop environment comparison utilities, application/environment monitoring utilities and post-deployment verification utilities.

Become an expert installing and troubleshooting both internally developed components and vendor software.

Work with application infrastructure architects to establish the physical environments to effectively perform the software deployments with an emphasis on quality, integrity, and security.

Provide off-hours support.
Requirements
Qualifications:

Requires United States Citizenship and Immigration Services Background Clearance process.

Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience or specialized training) in Information Technology (IT), Computer Science (CS), Software Engineering, or related discipline.

Minimum of 3 years relevant software deployment/development work experience.

Well rounded understanding of the role of service delivery of enterprise-class applications in a distributed corporate environment.

Strong change management skills.
-
Excellent problem solving and analytical capabilities.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.
-
Experience with application/production support.
-
Working knowledge of core Microsoft technologies (.NET, IIS, SQL Server, etc.) and how to deploy these technologies.

Proficiency in Windows server administration, and Windows file/folder and share permission configuration. Experience with Windows Clustering technologies is a plus.

Strong Windows scripting experience. Windows PowerShell experience is a plus.

Knowledge of version control and configuration management processes.

Ability to work under pressure in a multi-task environment.
