Storage Specialist

The job holder designs, implements, integrates and supports various mainframe, mid-frame, distributed, web and PC operating systems and ancillary products. S/he formulates system scope and objectives, analyzes user hardware and software needs and recommends upgrades or new purchases. S/he is involved in all phases of implementation and performs software installations and documents system software.

This opening is to support a mainframe storage infrastructure. In depth knowledge of the mainframe and storage required.

• Understanding of DFSMS and DFHSM 
• working experience with CA-SAMS Vantage product 
• The ability to trouble shoot and diagnose storage problems utilizing IBM and EMC tools

 

Requirements

 

Minimum 8 – 10 years experience required. Job holder must have prior experience with producing detail-level functional requirement documentation and selecting the optimal testing environment for specific applications. S/he must also be experienced with coordinating all parties affected by putting new applications into production. Job holder must be familiar with designing and executing major software installations and key issues related to implementing a security system. S/he must be experienced at addressing a variety of technical (hardware, software or application) problems. S/he must also be customer-service oriented, able to build cooperative relationships with people and have effective oral and written communication skills. Job holder must be an experienced problem solver who thinks creatively about solutions and adapts easily to changing priorities. B.S. or B.A. or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree or certification beneficial.
