Our client, a leading global pharmaceutical company, is looking for a senior-level industry MD to be based in Chicago, IL as a senior medical director, product safety and pharmacovigilance. This is a crucial position with a company that has a track record of explosive growth.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for leading and overseeing the Pharmacovigilance department to ensure effective systems for safety monitoring, assessment and reporting for investigational and commercialized pharmaceuticals. The responsibilities include data intake, handling and management for adverse events and medication errors; safety evaluation and analysis; risk assessment and management; and reporting to regulatory authorities in the US and Canada. Collaborates cross functionally and globally as needed to address findings, evaluate medical and business risk and recommend actions. Responsible for proactive awareness of regulatory and industry trends and direct interface with regulatory authorities.
Requirements
Requirements:
- MD degree, with licensure in the US preferred.
- Expert skills in safety reporting and assessment with pharmaceutical industry experience for at least ten years, including five years of direct functional and personnel management experience. In-depth understanding of safety regulations for marketed and investigational products.
- A proven track record of success in pharmacovigilance operations and decision making
- Strong interpersonal relationship competency required with a demonstrated ability to resolve conflict situations and think strategically and tactically.
- Demonstrated ability to design, develop, motivate and lead an organization to success.
- Sound clinical knowledge to evaluate and interpret data and to communicate with both internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to generate solutions to complex problems. Highly self motivated to work effectively with minimum supervision. Excellent management, motivational, presentation, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
- Consensus builder with strong leadership skills with ability to mentor and work effectively in global teams and cross functional teams. Committed to sharing and advancing company vision
