Description L-3 Communications Crestview Aerospace provides aircraft structures, major airframe assemblies and military aircraft modifications for leading Prime contractors and OEMs in the aerospace industry. Job Description: Performs a wide variety of mechanical/structural removal, installation, repair and modification to aircraft per engineering drawings, Technical Order specs, blueprints or supervisor instruction. Checks work correctness and conformance to specifications. Performs other related tasks as required. Aircraft structural mechanic. Candidate will have the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and assemble aircraft structural components. Knowledge and use of various hand tools associated to structural overhaul, repair and manufacture. Position requires the ability to work in small confined spaces, interior and exterior, on top and below the aircraft. Selection and use of various fasteners.
Requirements Basic Qualifications: High School with 6 years experience as sheet metal mechanic in the aircraft industry for education. Prefer FAA Airframe License with Beech Craft King-Air experience. Requires the ability to read, interpret and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, T.O. specs and engineering specifications. Ability to assemble close tolerance parts and use hand tools such as pneumatic drills and rivet gun. Must be eligible to work any shift including weekends and overtime as required. Describe the physical requirement of the job (e.g. Bending, lifting, overhead work): Must be able to climb ladders, stairs and portable stands and navigate these without assistance. Must be able to work at heights 70 feet above the ground. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold. Must be able to work in the following environmental conditions: noise, vibration, proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, chemicals, odors, dust. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, balance, push, pull, kneel, grasp, crouch, crawl, work in narrow aisles/passageways, and work in close spaces that restrict movement including aircraft fuel tanks for extended periods of time. Must be able to stand for sustained periods of time. Must be able to work primarily with fingers such as picking, pinching, typing. Requires visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Must be capable of routinely performing industry standard ambidextriosities required to complete tasks. Must be able to lift/maneuver up to 50 pounds. Must have own tools.
