JOB SUMMARY
Perform installation, general maintenance, upgrades, preventive maintenance and repair to all aspects of Armstrong’s Internet Service. Work closely with our Network Operation Center Team for support and training needs. Assist field personnel with system problems on an as needed basis. Work to implement new ideas to make Armstrong’s Internet Service the best experience possible.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Install, maintain and repair the server infrastructure that supports the operation of Armstrong’s Internet Service which run in a Linux operating environment.
• Troubleshoot and solve problems that arise amongst all aspects of Armstrong’s Internet Service.
• Work closely with vendors on an as needed basis to solve these problems.
• Provide daily support for outstanding issues that the Network Operations Center is unable to solve.
• Help create new processes for and train the Network Operations Center on new elements of Armstrong’s Internet Service.
• Provide support to Field Personnel on issues that they are unable to solve while working in the field.
• Participate in the execution of special projects as appropriate.
• Research, design and implement new technologies to improve Armstrong’s Internet Service on an as needed basis.
• Be available 24/7 for support of the Network Operations Center for any issues that need immediate attention.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Information Science or related field is preferred.
• Three years experience with the Linux operating system.
• Demonstrated technical communication and documentation skills.
• Demonstrated ability to solve problems both independently and in a team environment.
• Experience with the DOCSIS standard is a plus.
Experience with LDAP, DNS, DHCP and Apache are also a major plus
