Microbiology Lab Supervisor

This is an excellent opportunity to work as a

Microbiology Lab Supervisor

with a global consumer goods company in Jacksonville, Florida. This is a permanent, full time position with full benefits and excellent pay. We are looking to interview and hire as soon as possible.

DUTIES:                   

• Reports to Director of Quality Control
• Supervises Chemist and Quality Control Inspector
• Supervise and perform the determination of microbiological acceptability of all materials used or produced within the manufacturing plant
• Ensure that appropriate testing is performed, proper requirements are adhered to, and materials and products are stored and handled to prevent post contamination.
• Supervise microbiology lab activities for the timely evaluation of finished goods, bulks, raw materials and subcontracted items
• Maintain calibration of specific laboratory equipment as outlined in the calibration procedure 
• Monitor the plant environment through monthly GMP audits, identify potential problem areas, recommend corrective measures, and provide technical assistance and training as necessary
• Monitor compliance with Good Manufacturing Practice requirements for microbiological controls
• Inform management of potential microbiological problems and recommended remedial measures in a timely basis both orally and by written communications
• Assist in the development and monitoring of cleaning and sanitization procures, including interpretation and performance of requirements
• Establish and maintain a comprehensive training program for plant GMPs
• Perform training as necessary to assure compliance with cGMPs
• Monitor and evaluate water samples throughout the Deionized water system to ensure compliance with corporate and regulatory requirements
• Provide technical assistance to subcontractors, attend start-ups, conduct audits and resolve problems involving vendors

QUALIFICATIONS:

• 3 - 5 years microbiology lab experience in non-durable consumer goods industry
• 3 - 5 years supervisory experience
• BA/BS degree in Microbiology or a closely related scientific field
• Strong knowledge of microbiology lab test methods and equipment, and safety regulations
• Strong knowledge of current FDA Good Manufacturing Practices
• Strong skills in oral and written communications, documenting records and developing and delivering reports
• Computer proficiency with Windows, MS Office and email
• Ability to direct, plan, organize, assign, review and evaluate the work of subordinates
• Ability to persuade, influence and impact others
• Work is performed primarily in a quality control laboratory
• Professional beauty product experience preferred
