Position Posting

   Multi-Media Services Assistant – Evening Position

Will be responsible for providing support for all equipment which may consist of any (or a combination) of the following: video, audio-visual, photographic, and/or computer equipment. Will maintain inventories, provide training on both policies and usage for our digital audio and video facilities as applicable, and be responsible for checking in and out equipment. May be responsible for the maintenance and operation of a photographic printing service bureau for faculty and staff, or may schedule editing equipment and video equipment usage, and keep the cage in an orderly fashion. This position requires evening work from 11:00 pm till 8:00am.

Key Job Elements:

  • Manage inventory for labs and cage including receiving and securing new equipment when it arrives and checking for damage upon check-out and check-in; notify managers to pick up equipment as warranted.
  • Maintain and repair all video/audio production facilities and/or labs, and arrange for and oversee regular preventive maintenance and cleaning.
  • Provide technical assistance to students, faculty, and staff as needed.
  • Assist in orienting new faculty to studio and lab procedures. Ensure compliance with facility policies
  • Keep Director of Technology and/or Academic Technology Supervisor apprised of lack of compliance with studio/lab policies.
  • Assist other Technology Services Technicians and Managers with maintaining software library, license agreements, including tracking of master disks, registration of warranty cards and tracking of upgrades.
  • Assist in 12th week periodic maintenance to include student scheduling for video labs, forms creation for student use, cleaning and optimizing hard disks, upgrading software, cleaning heads on floppy drives, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Job Requirements (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):

  1. Knowledge:
    a) Associate’s degree required.
    b) Two to three years of solid experience in a production lab environment preferably in a post-secondary institution.
    c) Knowledge of preventative maintenance techniques on audio visual, video and/or photo equipment
    d) May require experience with cabling of computers and interconnection of video systems and video racks, time code generators, blackburst, colorbar generators, switchers, etc.
    e) May require experience with studio lighting, power requirement calculation, sound, remote multicamera setup, digital beta cam, video production cameras, etc.
    f) May require experience with special art and technology hardware and software such as Premiere, Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Quicktime Pro, Avid DV Express, Avid Express, Protocols, among others. Peripherals such as mackie mixers, S-VHS decks, beta decks, digital beta decks, etc.
  2. Skills:
    a) Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    b) Strong interpersonal skills with both faculty and student populations.
    c) Superior organization, prioritization, self-motivation, and problem resolution skills.
  3. Abilities:
    a) Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions.
    b) Ability to interact effectively as either a leader or as a member of a team and work collaboratively with other departments.
    c) Ability to listen to customers (e.g. students, staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests
    d) Ability to work without close supervision and to set one’s own priorities.
