Description JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:  

The Program Manager (PgM) is responsible for the facilitation of effective management of work required to meet strategic business objectives. The PgM is also responsible for the overall success of high profile customer launch programs. Using the RCP program management methodology the program manager manages the cross functional project teams throughout the program life cycle. (The program life cycle encompasses the program initiation, concept, development, design and production validation and production launch phases.) 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Establish the cross functional team required to manage the project to achieve the objectives as prescribed by the project scope.
  • Ensure the successful on-time within budget execution of programs to the satisfaction of the program stakeholders i.e. customers, project sponsors and Leadership board. 
  • Development of the detailed cross functional program coordination plan.
  • Facilitate and manage the cross functional standard work that is prescribed by RCP throughout the lifecycle of the program.
  • Facilitate and manage the archiving of program documentation throughout the lifecycle of the program in the Centric RCP repository.
  • Provide knowledge sharing with Product Line Management and Program planning functions to ensure accurate scope definition and project management plan development.
  • Work closely with the various departments and organizations to ensure efficient and timely project deliverable to customers.
  • Provide work direction and program management oversight to assigned programs including scheduling, assignment of work, and reviews of program efforts to ensure that the program meets the technical and process specifications.
  • Lead cross functional teams to establish and achieve program and new product requirements, schedules, priorities, performance and profitability.
  • Continuously conduct risk assessments of strategic, technical, finance and business factors impacting the plan and manage corrective actions to mitigate deviations to the program plan.
  • Compile program status reports regularly in order to identify internal and external factors jeopardizing the project.
  • Escalate issues and recommended solutions using the PMO escalation procedure.
  • Manage adherence to scope statement and ensure that scope creep is avoided. Changes to scope of a program must follow the Change Control Board procedure.      
  • Adhere to the standardized procedures of the Program Management Office.
  • Lead and mentor less experienced functional team members and provide assistance as required.    
Requirements
  • 10 + years of experience in engineering is required
  • 5 + years leadership / management experience is required
  • Experience in engineering in a manufacturing industry is required
  • Bachelors Degree in engineering is required; MS, MBA are preferred
  • Certified Program Management Professional (PMP) is preferred
  • Knowledge of PMBOK concepts, development of Project Charter, Scope Statements, and Project Management plans. (Note:  PMBOK – Project Management Body of Knowledge – PMI Global Standard.)
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Understanding of Lean Principles.
  • Flexible to Changes.
  • Proficient in RCP techniques and disciplines.
  • Ability to travel to global operations and assisting outside suppliers.  Focus on assisting in reducing costs.  Travel will include approximately 15% of time.
  • Organization and planning skills, outlining of project timelines and deliverables.
  • Capability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Capabilities to work directly with cross functional resources setting priorities, and follow up activity to meet project objectives.
  • Experience in Project management.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Computer skills, MS Word, Excel, Project.
  • Manages projects in a cost conscious and efficient manner
  • Basic understanding of financial, market and business initiatives and how Engineering supports them
  • Strong leadership skills and diversity focus
  • Ability to coach and mentor team members
  • Advanced understanding of how engineering interrelates with other functions in the organization
  • Has a broad knowledge base of engineering theories (in several different specialties) and applies those theories to a variety of complex tasks and situations.
  • Expert knowledge of Remy products, plant processes and procedures—shares this knowledge with others
  • Advanced project/program management skills—ability to solve the most complex problems efficiently and effectively
  • Advanced analytical, technical, and statistical skills
  • Works autonomously
  • Prior global experience preferred
