Laboratory Technician

Yoh Scientific has an opening for a Laboratory Technician to join our customer in Wilmington, DE. The position is a six months+ contract position. 

The company serves production agriculture with products for the grain and specialty crop sectors as well as forestry and vegetation management, including global herbicide, fungicide and insecticide products and services. It is the second largest employer in the Newark area.

Responsibilities:

• They will conduct plant genetic transformation experiments according to established protocols.
• They will use liquid and solid tissue culture procedures to maintain stock cultures and generate transgenic events and plants for analysis and seed production.
• They may participate on teams involved in supporting activities such as culture initiation, equipment maintenance, media preparation, culture room maintenance, process improvement, or information management.
• They will enter transformation data and sample information into spreadsheets and databases as required.
• They will help to maintain a clean and safe laboratory environment and tissue culture rooms.
• They will be required to summarize and report on the results of their experiments or group experiments.
• They will be required to handle and dispose of tissue culture waste in the proper manner.
• They will supervise the work of a lab assistant who works with the entire transformation team

• B.S.-level person with plant tissue culture experience.
• With guidance from supervision, primary responsibility is to assist technical personnel in general laboratory operations and routine laboratory or information handling tasks in support of scientific research.
• Perform tasks according to accepted methods and training prescribed by the work group
