EF&I ENGINEER SUMMARY:       

Provides highly advanced technical solutions, ensuring achievement of organizational revenue and profit objectives. Solutions consist of a broad range of engineering disciplines and technical resolutions related to diverse customer base. Acts as lead on projects to ensure customer desired solutions are engineered within scope, financial guidelines, and qualitative metrics.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following; other duties may be assigned:

• After reviewing customer requirements this position has responsibility for the  development of a detailed quote for product and services to the customer while maintaining specified department guidelines for margin and profitability.
• Develop engineering solutions through the application of highly skilled technical expertise, via the telephone and with on-site meetings, to meet existing and potential customer criteria. Technical solutions often include multiple products and services from a variety of vendors and requires a broad range of engineering theories and practices.
• Serve as the second line of contact for application/configuration and engineering issues regarding the products by resolving technical concerns.
• Responsible for providing specific input and product recommendations to customer, potential customer, marketing group, contractors and partners, and various internal departments to aid in the business decision of accepting or declining new products and services, and major business opportunities.
• Consult with customers to place product and services orders by providing technical presales support activities that includes timely, accurate, and efficient responses to customer requests. Pre-sale activity involves the development and completion of EF&I technical proposals and quotes.

 For over 30 years, KGP has been providing the telecommunications industry with supply chain and distribution services from its three (3) strategic Business Units.

Our national distribution network is comprised of seven (7) regional distribution centers located strategically across the United States and complimented with five (5) product manufacturing facilities.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions:

1. BS Technical or Engineering degree (or equivalent technical experience)
2. 5-7 years telecommunications experience or related work experience with at least 2 years in an engineering or technical position.
3. Advanced knowledge of transmission, Central office and remote equipment (i.e. DWDM, IP, OSP, Sonet, Digital Loop Carrier, Cable rack layout, and DC power)
4. Effective customer focus, analytical and organizational skills
5. PC skills
6. Prior installation, manufacturing, engineering or operations experience as it relates to an Operating Telephone or CLEC company network
7. Project management skills in Engineering & Installation
8. Negotiating skills

Preferred:

1. Exposure to sales environment

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree (B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
