POSITION SUMMARY/OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY:  Work collaboratively at organization and department levels to drive clinical education and training initiatives forward that align to business objectives, lead to continuous improvement of clinical organizational performance and support cultural values. Develop, revise and execute clinical education and training programs including needs assessment, new employee on boarding and management development that are in line with the overall corporate and department strategic goals.   Research emerging industry trends, new technologies, concepts and techniques to update current clinical training curriculum and education processes.  Develop appropriate metrics (ROI) and reporting to benchmark the value of clinical training activities.  Manage the designated Clinical Education training team including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.


1.       Work with all segments of the organization to analyze clinical knowledge/skill gaps and training needs.  Create and implement a corporate clinical education and training plan.  Participate in clinical quality improvement projects and initiatives.

2.       Formulate, design and implement clinical education and training policies, programs and schedules based on knowledge of identified training needs, nursing continuing education accrediting requirements, company processes, business systems or changes in procedures and services.

3.       Design and execute effective clinical learning and education programs using multimedia training methods to maximize organizational learning (eLearning, classroom, webcasts).

4.       Manage all activities related to planning, development, delivery, communication and organization of clinical education and training programs.

5.       Train assigned instructors and supervisory personnel in effective techniques for training such as new employee orientation, on-the-job training, health and safety practices, clinical management development and adaptations to changes in policies, procedures and techniques.

6.       Evaluate instructor performance in the effectiveness of the training programs and their ability to deal with trainees.  Provide recommendations for improvement.

7.       Responsible for staying current in terms of clinical content, education, training and coaching trends, modifying and improving training based on participant and management feedback and bringing in guest speakers or outside vendors where appropriate.

8.       Develop appropriate metrics (ROI) and reporting to benchmark the value of clinical education and training activities and prepare budgets to justify funds needed.

9.       Organize and develop clinical education and training manuals, reference library, testing and evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials.

10.   Act as a change agent, facilitator, coach and consultant to individual leaders, management teams and business units in developing a clinical training and education plan to implement changes to the operations/business. 

11.   Coordinate / support clinical communications and implement internal clinical communication strategies as directed to ensure consistency of messaging across the organization.

12.   Manage the designated clinical education and training team including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation and disciplinary actions.

13.   Support the RFP/Sales process as needed/assigned.

14.   Assist in completion of special projects and initiatives on an as needed basis. 

Requirements

Education:  Bachelors Degree in Nursing or Education, Masters Degree and Correctional experience preferred.

 

Experience Level:   10+ years experience in nursing staff development, training or academic teaching required with 1- 3 years leadership responsibility.  Background in managing an ANCC-accredited Nursing Continuing Education Unit preferred.


Tools and Technology:
 Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point

                                           

Certificates and Licenses:  Registered Nurse (RN) Licensure, BLS certified

 

Language Ability:    Read and comprehend instructions, business correspondence and memos.  Write business communications such as e-mails, memos, white papers, business cases, etc.  Effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to leaders / managers and other employees of the organization.

       

Reasoning Ability:    Ability to work on extremely complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangible variance factors.

 

Work Environment:   Office environment with occasional travel up to 25% to: correctional facilities, regional offices, client and/or vendor sites.
