SUMMARY:  The Quality Assurance Scientist will lead the development, coordination, and implementation of the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Code certification program for all manufacturing facilities. 

The QA Scientist will create corporate level quality policies which align with the SQF code and assist the plant Quality Assurance Managers in improving current programs and implementing new programs tailored to the needs of the individual manufacturing facilities. 

The QA Scientist will be expected to make recommendations and decisions which positively impact the Quality System and the organization.

Additionally, this position is also responsible for developing and implementing SPC and Change Management as well as managing the following programs: supplier approval, document control, internal auditing, and corrective action programs.

• Coordinate development and implementation of SQF among the three manufacturing facilities
• Manage the Document Control system
• Create, manage and ensure compliance to the annual Internal Audit Schedule
• Manage the Corrective Action Database and follow-up on corrective actions
• Manage the Supplier Quality Database and Supplier files
• Conduct Supplier Audits
• Develop the Change Management Program
• Develop and implement SPC across all three manufacturing facilities
• Attain SQF Practitioner status
• Some travel between manufacturing facilities required

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:     Bachelor of Science degree in Food Science, Microbiology, and Chemistry, Biology or related discipline required.     

Experience: 3 - 5 years or previous quality assurance experience in a food manufacturing facility required.  SPC, ISO 9001, ISO 22000 or SQF experience strongly preferred.

Skills:           Excellent communication skills, verbal and written     

Ability to communicate with all levels of the organization

RELATIONSHIPS:

• Reports to the Director of Quality.
• Works closely with all departments, across all functions and levels of the organization.
