Description
Manage accounts to achieve guest satisfaction and to solicit past and new business to exceed revenue goals as assigned.
¨ Conduct site inspections throughout property.
¨ Maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel.
¨ Handle account details so all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented.
¨ Research periodicals, internet, trade journals, and other publications to learn about potential business opportunities.
¨ Develop client menus, write contracts and business letters, as well as organize other arrangements as they relate to booked events.
¨ Coordinate various departments' participation in servicing accounts.
¨ Travel locally to conduct outside sales calls, promote the hotel and review competition reader boards to develop leads.
¨ Out of town travel to solicit business as required.
¨ Prepare information for, meet with, and entertain clients as deemed appropriate by potential business from that account.
¨ Prepare and present weekly and monthly Catering Sales reports.
¨ Represent Hotel at trade shows as specified and set-up exhibits as needed.
¨ Assist the support staff with maintenance of sales files.
¨ Attend or host hotel events as required.
¨ Audit or assist with client billing as required
¨ Type contracts, menus, letters, and reports
¨ Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
¨ Fulfill Manager on Duty shifts as scheduled..
Requirements
¨ Must have knowledge of a hotel structure and how all departments interact.
¨ Must be able to effectively work with a variety of internal and external customers and staff.
¨ Must have basic math skills to prepare cost proposals.
¨ Must be able to travel throughout designated markets.
¨ Must have developed language skills to the point to be able to read newspapers, periodicals, journals, and manuals.
¨ Write business letters, summaries, and reports, using prescribed format, and conforming
¨ Must have thorough knowledge of food and beverage etiquette, guest relations and service standards and be able to answer clients questions about both catering and hotel services
Essential functions of the position must be performed while avoiding potential liability and damage probability to both the hotel’s and guest’s property.
¨ Previous sales experience
¨ Past hotel experience preferred
¨ Mathematical development sufficient to perform the four basic arithmetic operations with all units of measurements.
