The role of the Chaplain is to minister to the spiritual and religious needs of Recovery Plus Addiction – Mental Health Services, clients, and their families regardless of age, color, religion, sex, or sexual preference. Implements and abides by Customer Service Standards. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate.
Requirements
At least four units of successfully completed Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) required.
Catholic Priest Chaplain: Completion of Theological program from recognized seminary required. Ordination as Catholic Priest and endorsement by local Ordinary required.
Catholic Chaplain: College degree with major in counseling, theology, or the humanities; or Certificate in Ministry required.
Protestant Chaplain: Graduate from a recognized seminary, divinity school, or college of theology required. Ordination and ecclesiastical endorsement by denomination required.
Proven experience of at least one year of working within a team ministry required. Continuing education to update professional skills and knowledge by participation in training programs, seminars, and workshops. Documentation attesting to skills in working with adults, children and adolescents.
Membership and certification in National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC) or Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) highly desired.
Any person who have direct client contact must have been free of chemical use problems for at least two years immediately preceding their hiring and must sign a statement attesting to the fact. Chemical use problems includes the following:
1. Receiving treatment for chemical use within the period specified for the position in the staff qualification requirements;
2. Chemical use that has a negative impact on the staff member’s job performance.
3. Chemical use that affects the credibility of treatment services with clients, referral sources, or other members of the community; and
4. Symptoms of intoxication or withdrawal on the job.
