The Interaction Designer serves an instrumental role in delivering inContact software features to the marketplace. Their specific purpose is to accelerate the quality and accuracy of our software development efforts.  They contribute by creating visual design artifacts and functional prototypes that describe the expected user experience for our SaaS software applications.

 

The Designer works with our Product Design teams to understand the market, clients, personas, competitors, users, system constraints, timelines and soft requirements.  The Designer collaborates with Product Managers, Program Managers, System Analysts, Developers, and Software Testers to deliver software based on their interaction design input.

 

The Interaction Designer serves a key role by helping people understand interaction approaches for features.  To ensure highly usable software, the Interaction Designer facilitates design validation techniques and incorporates findings into designs.  The Designer is also responsible for validating design approaches through the use of user testing programs.

 

To maintain continuity, Interaction Designers are responsible for defining and documenting design standards, explaining those standards, and ensuring they are followed in future designs.


Major Functions and Responsibilities

  • Rapidly, iteratively, and flexibly creating:
    • Paper/whiteboard design prototypes
    • Comprehensive annotated wireframes
    • High fidelity design schematics
    • Interactive UI prototypes
    • Flow charts
  • Comprehensive understanding of product requirements and users' goals and objectives
  • Supporting developers as they implement UI designs
  • Driving usability evaluations, analyzing results, translating results into design improvements
  • Ongoing persona development
  • Conceptualizing and creating UI specifications, guidelines & libraries (e.g. imagery, iconography, etc.).
  • Conceptualizing/managing UI look & feel to visual & nomenclature branding
  • Usability testing techniques and group facilitation
  • Contributing to high quality software releases on schedule
  • Explore new technologies and their applications to real-world services
  • Attend and contribute in meetings and training as required
  • Share job knowledge, skills and ideas with other employees
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • Follow the company Code of Ethics and inContact policies and procedures at all times
  • Communicate in an effective and professional way with customers in and outside of inContact.


Requirements
  • 2 or 4 year college degree. 

  • BS in HCI, Human Factors, UX Design or similar discipline preferred.

  • BS/MS in CS or equivalent a plus
  • Four (4) years experience in interaction design for web based software applications
  • Four (4) years experience with website design
  • Three (3) years SDLC process experience
  • Demonstrable technical ability in at least one of the following: HTML/XHMTL, XML/XSLT, CSS, Java, JavaScript, AJAX, Flash, Flex
  • Strong working knowledge of web technologies, web standards, and web trends
  • Good working knowledge of tools such as ASP.net, XML, Photoshop, Flash, Fireworks, and Dreamweaver
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English including vocabulary, spelling, composition, and grammar
  • Experience with Agile/SCRUM software development methodology
  • Conducting usability groups and studies
  • Training in experimental design and analysis
  • Conducting Beta programs
