Description The Day Program Assistant is directly responsible to the Programming Instructor for day to day instructions.  The Day Program Assistant will provide training as identified in each indivuduals progam plans.  Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Follows activities outlined in the lesson/work plan; obtains and prepares materials and prepares area to be able to implement lesson/work plan.
  • Provides training to residents in formal and informal settings in accordance with Individualized Program Plans (IPP) and program goals.
  • Assists individuals in completion of activities of daily living, including toiteting, grooming, dressing and eating.
  • Maintains daily data for individuals in assigned caseload, including attendance records, vocational production, progress on objectives and time sheets.
  • Implements individualized program plans; provides training in varied environments; follows activity plans of unit.
  • Maintains a clean orderly and safe work environment for residents; follows safety procedures of unit assigned; follows infection control procedures.
Requirements You must have a High School Diploma or equivelant.  Must possess a valid driver's license and a good driving record as defined by Bethesda.

One year of experience preferred working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

Physically able to perform two person transfers and escorts of adult clients weighing over 100 pounds.

Knowledge in training people with severe/profound mental retardation preferred.

Ability and willingness to successfully complete inservice training course.  Eligible to be included on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry. 

Good written and verbal communication skills, creative approach to training, and commitment to the Interdisciplinary Team process.
