The position can be a remote position worked anywhere in the United States!
Duties:
Plan, coordinate, prioritize, and execute the activities within a team environment necessary to safely collect NCS GIS field data utilizing GPS/GIS Mobile LiDAR and Trimble mapping hardware. Support all technologies necessary for data collection and field validation activities. Support data collection activities, people and teams supporting the NCS GIS safety initiatives. Understand, support, communicate and promote the proper use of LiDAR and Trimble hardware, as well as ESRI GIS mapping solutions. Support a Change Management Process. Support on-track activities with other departments to maximize work efforts and train operations. Perform data collection by utilizing a Hy-rail vehicle and/or on foot. Maintain field collection tools and data collection vehicle. Become familiar and may be required to complete and become qualified with current annual MOW Rules Qualification and comply with company policies, i.e., Equal Employment Policy, Safety Rules, applicable schedule agreements, FRA Standards and government regulations.
Qualifications:
College degree desired or mandatory high school graduate with a strong technical background and minimum of 2 years utilizing GPS, LiDAR, GIS Systems and computer technologies. Qualified applicants must demonstrate above average organizational skills and a desire to drive for results. Must be willing to travel extensively with irregular and flexible work schedule to all locations. Strong working knowledge of field data collection activities using various methodologies desired. Must be self-directed, motivated and have good interpersonal and communication skills. Must have a strong technical working knowledge of safe transportation (railroad preferred) operations and practices. Must have ability to communicate well, one-on-one and in groups. Must follow safety policies and procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment required for the job in a safe manner. Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions: hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet. Perform work on uneven surfaces. Work in conditions that include loud noise and fumes, work around heavy and moving machinery. Must be willing to travel to all locations and be available to work at various geographic locations on network. Must be safety conscious and able to support and contribute to a strong safety process.
