Description

SUMMARY:  Responsible for directing and managing the operations of the finance department.  Includes improving processes & procedures, as well as both strategic and tactical responsibilities.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Manages the finance department to achieve departmental accountabilities, including:


•       Close books monthly.

•       Assure compliance with financial accounting principles.

•       Assure timeliness and accuracy of accounting functions such as payroll, A/P, A/R, etc.

•       Proactively manage taxes.  Assure income tax compliance to assure accurate & timely completion of all corporate income tax returns, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.

•       Proactively establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, improve productivity, and enhance the company’s value.

•       Manage budget process, including developing budget with department directors, setting up process for monitoring, etc.

•       Manage company expense policies/procedures

•       Negotiate with corporate vendors such as car rental, insurance, etc.

•       Manage ongoing banking relationships

•       Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.

•       Develop policies, systems, special financial studies, etc. of major importance.

•       Provide financial analysis, supporting Business Development and Product Development in determining financial impacts of various business ventures.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


Builds, develops and leads finance team to meet company objectives.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training, delegating work, setting deadlines, managing quality of work, career development, performance management, etc.

Requirements

•       Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Financial, or Business Administration

•       Should have 5-10 years experience in all aspects of accounting.

•       Strong general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge.

•       Proven leadership experience, including experience coaching/mentoring/training others.

•       Exceptional communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills.

•       Exceptional knowledge of Excel, Quickbooks. Proficient in MSWord, Powerpoint.

•       Excellent problem solving and analytical skills required.

•       CPA a plus
