Light Rail Transit - Deputy Manager - Systems Engineering


This $10 billion program consists of 100km of light rail transit with about 13 km in tunnels. There a total 95 stops including 12 underground stations.

 

 

 

 

 

 


 

The candidate will be in charge of the systems engineering department consisting of Heads of Communications, Signals, Scada, Fare Collection and System Integration working in the milieu of program management overseeing and approving designs of systems prepared by outside consultants. This position reports to the Deputy Program Manager of Engineering and it will be based in Toronto.


 

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Reviewing design and performance standards in the system disciplines for the Transit City LRT Maintenance and Storage Yards and the Scarborough Rapid Transit Lines
  • Reviewing and approving Terms of References and performance evaluation criteria for consultant selection
  • Reviewing and approving design standards variances and obtaining stakeholders approval
  • Reviewing and amending written comments by the systems group for the design submissions prepared by external consultants
  • Reviewing and approving written comments for design submissions prepared by system group
  • Participating with, reviewing and approving consultant and design-build consortium value engineering’ proposals
  • Representing the Commission on technical matters and review and approve technical documents for tender in their discipline of expertise
  • Approval and sign off on design-build proposals with their discipline of expertise
  • Working on co-operatively with their counterpart in the TTC Engineering Department and other Commission Operating Branches in order to meet client requirements
  • Working concurrently on multiple projects and tasks The candidate will be in charge of the systems engineering department consisting of Heads of Communications, Signals, Scada, Fare Collection and System Integration working in the milieu of program management overseeing and approving designs of systems prepared by outside consultants.

 

Requirements Requirements:

  • A senior project manager professional, with a minimum of 20 years experience working with Commuter Railroads or Light Rail Transit Agencies within in a systems management role.
  • Education: A Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • A current U.S. PE Registration with ability to obtain Canadian P. Eng registration within six months.
  • An advanced degree is also preferred.
