Director of Finance

The Center for Children’s Services is seeking a Director of Finance to manage the financial and technical operations of the Financial Services Department.  The Director of Finance reports to the Executive Director, and develops financial management systems, analyses, and recommendations for standardizing practices and enhancing operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities:

• Ensures the application of sound financial practices and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
• Prepares program budgets and an agency-wide annual budget
• Maintains appropriate documentation and records compliance
• Advises Executive Director on fiscal matters and communicates all financial developments and conditions to the Executive Director and the Board
• Oversees the operations of the accounting and billing systems, as well as the payroll, AP and AR transactions
• Facilitates the annual independent audit of financial records
• Provides timely feedback to the Executive Director, management team and supervisors regarding the financial status of the respective operations
• Establishes and administrates a Quality Improvement plan for the Financial Services Department to improve services for Center clients

• Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, with a minimum of three years experience in a supervisory role
• Previous experience as Director of Finance in a nonprofit organization preferred
• Grant reporting experience required
• Experience with requirements of state and federal funding in nonprofit settings required
• CPA highly desirable
