Description This position is responsible for fully investigating all workers’ compensation claims, directing and documenting the progress, and developing a plan of action to satisfactorily and efficiently resolve each claim.

Keeps Workers’ Compensation Supervisor and other interested parties updated on claims. 

  • Works with all members of the risk management department to perform administrative duties such as filing, faxing, mailings, setting up files, and making labels.
  • Communicate with injured workers, managers, and witnesses to gather detailed facts of an incident. 
  • Determine the severity of injury and necessity for medical treatment. Direct care when appropriate.
  • File new claims with proper carrier or state agency.
  • Enter new claims into Risk Management database. 
  • Communicate with adjusters, doctors, nurses, and attorneys. 
  • Accurately document claim details.
  • Develop a plan of action and monitor each claim. 
  • Maintain consistent contact with managers and injured employees.
  • Provide support in weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as well as training presentations.
 
 
Requirements

Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Some college or college degree preferred. 

Experience: Preferred minimum of one year experience in claims adjusting, litigation, the medical field, or other similar related experience.        

 Hard skills:  Must be proficient with computers; proficient at MS Outlook, Excel, and Word;   preferred proficiency with PowerPoint. Must be able to sit for long periods of time, communicate by telephone for an extensive amount of time daily, and keyboard with high degree of accuracy. Must have the ability to conduct research using a variety of sources.

Soft Skills: Must have excellent telephone, written, and verbal skills; pleasant, positive, empathetic personality; detail oriented with excellent communication skills with ability to provide accurate documentation; flexibility and ability to prioritize projects; conflict resolution skills.
