Job Responsibility:
The Exterior Communications Systems (ECS) Specialist shall provide operational and material readiness support for communication systems onboard submarines and ships. Troubleshoot, test, maintain, repair, install, remove, replace, upgrade, train, inspect and provide technical support for ECS systems and interconnecting cabling connections. Perform submarine ECS systems groom in accordance with established NAVSEA groom procedures. Systems supported include but are not limited to:
- Extremely High Frequency (EHF) Communications Equipment – Troubleshoot and remove or repair.
- Ultra High Frequency (UHF) Equipment – Troubleshoot and remove or repair.
- High Frequency (HF) Equipment – Troubleshoot and remove or repair.
- Low Frequency (LF)/Very Low Frequency (VLF) Communications Equipment – Troubleshoot and remove or repair.
- Super High Frequency (SHF) Communications Equipment – Troubleshoot and repair.
- Support Systems, Cryptographic and Ancillary Communications Equipment – Troubleshoot and remove or repair.
Requirements
Security Clearance: Secret
Primary Required Skill Requirements:
Extensive knowledge of Los Angeles class, nuclear-powered fast attack submarines (SSN-688) radio room operations.
Secondary Desired Skill Requirements:
Ability to troubleshoot, remove, and repair SSN-688 class communications equipment.
Education/Equivalent:
HS Diploma, appropriate U.S. Navy Communications Training and operational experience.
