The Systems Administrator’s role is to provide a single point of contact for server and systems related issues. The Systems Administrator is responsible for the health and operational uptime of the systems required by Loves, Musket and Gemini. The Systems Administrator II reports to the Systems & Support Manager.
Responsible for the installation, configuration support and maintenance of all hardware and software required to conduct business.Maintains the integrity of the Operating System software.Applies application upgrades and security patches as required.Manages data backup and restoration operations.Uses performance and monitoring tools to assist in performance tuning of the systems and servers.Performs analysis and makes recommendations regarding Systems related hardware and software.Provides second-level support to other Technology functions and end users.Analyzes server and network activity and maintains performance monitoring systems.Works closely with Network, VOIP and Desktop Support technicians.Participates in the planning and development of policies and procedures relevant to Systems Administration, Disaster Preparedness and Offsite Storage.Manages projects related to business units and overall IT infrastructure.Keeps abreast of industry standards and recommends solutions to meet those standards.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 3 years Network, Systems Administration or System Security experience or 5 years of equivalent Network/Systems/Security experience.
Hard skills:
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Windows Server· Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Exchange · Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Software · Working knowledge of RedHat (or equivalent) · Knowledge of EMC CX storage array preferred· Knowledge of VMWare Infrastructure (vSphere)· Advanced knowledge of Dell and HP hardware.
