THE ROLE

 

 

As the Director of Contracts reporting to the COO, you will set the strategy and develop the infrastructure to support rapid growth (the company has grown 20% annually for the past 5 years).   You will be a key member of the executive team, running contracts operations for 2 business units.  You will have government and commercial contracts both domestically and internationally.

 

 

This is a unique opportunity for a seasoned professional to build the contract organization from the ground up.   This is a key leadership role with an emphasis on strategic thinking, customer focus, performance and results orientation and innovation. People development is also key.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

·         You will develop and manage the contracts organization, for a mid-sized high tech company with two business units.

·         Provide disciplined business leadership and strategic guidance at the highest levels of integrity to achieve business objectives, satisfy customer requirements, and manage risk;

·         Assure strategic alignment of contract management responsibilities with contracting objectives;

·         Be the functional leader for all locations in directing all contract and major subcontract management and strategic agreements;

·         Have the primary (non-technical) responsibility for all agreements between the company and third parties.

 

·         Support proposal preparation and review and approve pricing actions prior to submission;

·         Provide strategic and tactical advice on proposed contract terms and conditions;

·         Manage selection and due diligence on all international sales representatives;

·         Develop and maintain a library of templates for use by the team;

·         Develop a set of negotiation guidelines under which the team may act independently;

·         Support and manage as required activities associated with mergers and acquisitions.

 

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

·         Proven leadership experience with multiple locations and large functional groups;

·         Aviation and Defense industry experience;

·         Proven success with implementation of change agent initiatives;

·         10+ years Government Contracts/Commercial/International experience;

·         Superior functional skill in Contracts Management and Strategic Agreements;

·         Strategic involvement in business development and proposal development;

·         Demonstrated experience in effective and successful negotiations;

·         Knowledge and experience of US Government Procurement laws and procedures including Arms Export and Control Regulations;
