Description

Working closely with our field services group, the Mechanical Engineer/Designer will design refurbishment components for hydro-turbines and related equipment.  This individual will provide technical support internally to project management and proposal engineering, as well as externally to the field offices, subcontractors and clients.

 

Specific job responsibilities include:

 

  • Designs refurbishment components using calculations to verify designs.  Components may include turbine runners, discharge rings, shaft, bearings, wicket gates, wicket gate mechanism/bushings, headcover/bottomring, stayvanes, distributor/stay rings, draft tube liners and turbine inlets.
  • Resolve technical issues related to projects.
  • Performs components checks as required.
  • Assists the Sales Department in the bid for technical issues.
  • Provides assistance to project management in technical tasks related to the refurbishment of hydro-turbines and related equipment.
  • Assist Purchasing in reviewing quotes and purchase orders for completeness.

Requirements The successful candidate will be self-motivated with excellent problem-solving skills, above-average accuracy and attention to detail, and will meet the following requirements:

 

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.

  • 5+ years experience in mechanical design of heavy industrial components.

  • AutoCAD proficiency required.  (This is a hands-on design role)
  • Working knowledge in capital equipment, welding, custom fabrication, and/or piping.
  • Experience designing large rotation equipment is a plus.
