FUNCTION:
The primary goal of the Assistant Controller is to ensure that the financial results are accurately prepared in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principals on a timely basis. This position will involve the ability to effectively coordinate with Executive Management and program personnel on a regular basis. The Assistant Controller in conjunction with the Chief Financial Officer maintains the integrity of the financial accounting system. Prepares the monthly and annual financial statements for review and distribution to the department heads, coordinates the budget process and preparation for annual independent audit, and supervises accounting staff. Responsible for enhancing and maintaining a properly functioning revenue cycle process through a cross-department organizational structure.

1. Manages all aspects of the organization’s accounting operations, including financial plans, budgeting, and accounting practices and procedures while ensuring compliance and accuracy.
2. Successful completion of responsibilities in an accurate, timely manner.
3. Leadership and team building of financial team.
4. Successful reports from external and internal auditors and internal controls, financial statements, and bank statements.

Requirements
Education - A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Financial Management; Not-for-Profit experience and CPA preferred
Experience - Minimum five(5) years accounting in the nonprofit field, including grants or cost accounting knowledge and contract billing plus three (3) years of supervisory experience.
· Strong analytical, research skills and the ability to write clearly: able to clearly link financial results to operational performance drivers, generate alternatives and drive positive change.
· Demonstrated ability to successfully led cross-functional projects/process improvement within operations/finance function involving process improvement.
· Excellent oral and written communications skills including experience working across multiple levels (including executive level), functions and regions; able to clearly communicate complex financial information in an easy to understand manner; able to deliver message effectively verbally and in writing.
· Confidence to approach business leaders with difficult messages and defend position
· Strong computer skills including competences in the use of MS Word and Excel and experience working with computerized Financial Management Information Systems and Web-based payroll a preferred,
· Able to work in a team environment and provide direction, guidance, and leadership to the accounting department
This position requires initiative, flexibility, simultaneously meeting multiple demands, being open to change in response to new information, different or unexpected circumstances, and/or to work in ambiguous situations, and the proven ability to work with minimum supervision.

· This position may require driving personal vehicle. Must be privileged to drive according to the criteria set forth by Agency MVR guidelines.
