Description Prime Contracts Administrator opportunity located in Charlotte, NC

We are currently seeking the following Prime Contracts Administrator at our power headquarters in Charlotte, NC.

Project:

Baton Rouge, La., April 8, 2008 � The Shaw Group Inc. (NYSE: SGR) announced today that the Nuclear Division of its Power Group and Westinghouse Electric Company, its AP1000� nuclear power plant consortium partner, have been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract by Georgia Power Company, a subsidiary of Southern Company (NYSE: SO), for two Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power units and related facilities. The AP1000 units each have an electric generating capacity of 1,100 megawatts and would be constructed at the existing Vogtle Electric Generating Plant site near Augusta, Ga.

Position Description:

Contracts Administrator reporting to the Prime Contracts Manager (PCM) to provide contract administration support to the Voglte Project team.

The position requires the following:

Assist the PCM on various tasks and take responsibility for certain tasks as delegated by the PCM. Identify the contract baseline, terms and conditions, specifications, drawings, estimate, proposal, schedule and other documents incorporated in the prime contract. - Responsible for the interpretation of the prime contract terms and conditions; highlight areas of potential risk, assist the PCM and Project Manager in mitigating those risks; monitor and support remedial actions as necessary and recommend appropriate tradeoffs. - Manage the contract deliverables including contract close out by identifying the specific contract actions, including required notifications and obligations of Company and the Client. Maintain detailed incoming and outgoing correspondence logs. Develop the list of mandatory and recommended prime contract flow down clauses for incorporation into subcontracts and purchase orders and collaborates with Procurement and Subcontracts personnel on their use. - Support the development of change management procedures to provide a methodology to identify changes and claims. Define approval requirements and communicate changes and claims to the Client and process change orders when received. Negotiate change orders, and develop and direct the efforts to negotiate and resolve claims in coordination with the Legal Department. - Awareness of all project activities that may affect the prime contract; identify opportunities for project income enhancement, schedule relief and claim avoidance; recommend appropriate actions to protect Company interests and/or improve project performance. Ensure project adherence to contract insurance provisions with support from Insurance/ Legal personnel.

Must Have Skills:

Good knowledge of contractual risk assessment and of contract negotiation techniques - good understanding of contract law - computer proficiency with Word, Excel - management skills set that include experience with interfacing with procurement - subcontracts - project controls - quality - expediting - supplier inspection - engineering disciplines - project management and customer relations - shall understand SOW development and have presentation skills (written and oral) - working knowledge and familiarity with all types of contracts e.g. firm fixed price, cost plus and/or incentive fee, T&M are also required - results motivated - ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines - good communication skills - shall be a team player

Position is full time, salaried, exempt and is located in Shaw's Charlotte, NC office.
