Our Information Technology department is seeking a DSM (Desktop Systems Mgmt) Technician experienced in MS SMS admin and client mgmt/deployment.

The position requires a responsible, self motivated, well organized individual with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects while adapting quickly to rapidly changing priorities. Also, this position requires the ability to work well with both peers and customers under pressure and deadlines.

The candidate should be highly proficient with a thorough understanding of Microsoft Windows Installer Technology such as Native MSI Packaging, Application repackaging, Standard and Custom Actions, Conditions, Transforms, Patches, Upgrades, Administrative installs, Installshield, AdminStudio, VB Script, and WMI.

Responsibilities include:

Package and distribution of software and Windows Security Patches/Hotfixes using SMS 2003.
Creating Microsoft Installer (.msi) packages and Microsoft Transforms (.mst) using AdminStudio, software repositories, Orca, and VBScript (not using repackaging or setup/capture utilities)
Ensure requested tasks meet all applicable SLAs while providing world-class service. Accept and resolve all ESD (Electronic Software Distribution) requests within established SLA timeframes.
Support the organization’s continuous improvement of Desktop Systems Mgmt solutions.
Monitor appropriate ticketing system queue(s) for new ESD requests.
Manage SMS 2003 environment for 25000+ desktops.
Monitor SMS package distribution and execution status and report when required or as requested.
Monitor and maintain SMS 2003 servers, maintain server health, troubleshoot, and resolve issues as required.
Provides rapid response to regional and enterprise issues and outages
Provide technical support to the Project Planning and Implementation Teams
Work under limited direction with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.
Possess a customer/user-focused attitude.
Interface with team members, clients, customers, and vendors.
Provide technical expertise in a variety of areas.

Candidate should have working knowledge of:

Deploying and testing highly complex installation packages for functionality, compliance, quality assurance, integration, and user acceptance, verifying that the MSI is operating correctly to install, uninstall, and repair an application and ensuring there are no DLL/registry conflicts or ICE errors in the MSI packages
Advanced Windows OS installation, configuration and troubleshooting
SMS Server 2003 (3+yrs) (required) / SCCM 2007 (preferred)
SQL Server 2005 (2+yrs), including complex SQL queries against SMS 2003 database
Experience in implementing and supporting SMS based desktop management infrastructures for large complex organizations
Software packaging experience (5+yrs) (Wise installer and/or Installshield)
VBScript, and Windows command-line technologies
TCP/IP LAN/WAN architecture and trouble-shooting
Microsoft Active Directory software deployments

A minimum of 5 years of related technical support experience.
