Assignment Capsule
As an actuary you will: quantify risk and uncertainty, determining price levels and product portfolios consistent with business-wide objectives, performing proper valuations of liabilities, and ensuring actuarial compliance as required by federal law and standards of practice.

Create, evaluate, test and support statistical, actuarial and data model designs for root cause analyses that can be used to increase business intelligence and domain expertise
Conduct root cause analyses, using your results to create recommendations for trend mitigation
Develop a library of metrics, methods, reports, results and recommendations
Act as a key resource and liaison to other functional areas of Humana's business, building productive cross-functional relationships

Role Essentials

Bachelor's Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
Credit for Society of Actuary exams in the area of Actuarial Modeling
Experience in the health solution industry, with demonstrated experience in the areas of pricing, product development, pharmacy management and benefits design, risk adjustment, disease/condition management, outcomes analysis, financial recoveries, and fraud and abuse
Proficiency in SAS-based programming
Working knowledge of relational databases, including Oracle, Access and My SQL, and SQL/PL programming skills

Role Desirables

Master's Degree in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field
Experience with SPSS, Matlab, C/C++, Java and Visual Basic

Reporting Relationships

You will report to an Actuarial Director. This area is under the leadership of a Director, a SVP & Chief Financial Officer.
